Product Description
Panasonic DMR-EZ28K 1080p Upconverting DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner – (DMREZ28K) Features: 1080p Up-Conversion By interpolating video data using proprietary algorithms, SD format data is up-converted to 1080 x 1920p HD format video data. This conversion increases the richness of the original data by almost six fold, producing the highest possible image quality when viewing content on a large-screen HDTV. Digital Tuner Capable The high-performance hybrid digital tuner is capable of receiving both digital and analog broadcasts. And even when digital signals drop out because of interference with direct signal access, which makes the picture either disappear or become filled with block noise, the Digital Tuner still produces a beautiful picture. Easy Operation with VIERALink Connect your Panasonic DVD recorder to your VIERA flat-panel HDTV via an HDMI cable, and the TV channel setting information is automatically downloaded to the recorder. Once the Auto Preset Download is complete, the DVD recorder will keep whichever TV channel you’re watching as its receiving channel. This means you can record the program you’re watching by just pressing the Record button on the VIERA remote. With VIERALink™, you don’t have to worry about setting the recorder to the right channel every time you want to record something. Expansion of Usages The Panasonic DMR-EZ28V DVD recorder is equipped with an SD Memory Card slot and USB terminal, which makes it easy to view photos from your digital camera. Just slip the SD card into the slot or use the cable to connect the camera to the USB terminal, and you’re ready to enjoy a spectacular big-screen slideshow with family and friends. You can even listen to music recorded onto a USB device while viewing your photos. Universal Design All of our DVD recorder models are designed in compliance with Panasonic’s Universal Design principles. Frequently used buttons (Power, Open/Close) are located at the top o

This unit barely manages to provide the services for which it is engineered. This isn’t unusual for DVD-recorders. They are all absolutely awful. This, at one star, is one of the best of class, principally because you can, with patience, record shows onto DVDs. The problem is that the unit locks up in a never-ending variety of situations. If the engineers set out to make a totally undependable machine, they succeeded wildly.
The other “recorders” in the class are just slightly worse, which is to say, they are as useful for making recordings as you would be with a stick and a clay tablet.
If you purchase this unit, you’re a fool. If this doesn’t bother you, I suggest you lay in a store of long, narrow pointy things; it is only by pressing a teensy-weensy button through a tiny hole that you can reset the machine and snap it out of its paralyzed stupor. You’ll be doing this several times a day. Have fun.

Mine broke after only a few weeks. Slow and unfriendly user interface and remote control. Cheap stuff from China, what can I say? I wish things were different.

Very typical. Works fine. Not shockingly well, but this is my 3rd brand trail and this is the easiest to use. A bit quicker too, not by much.

You would think that a new, 2008 model of a digital tuner with advertised “1080p” capability and component outputs would be High Definition. It’s not. You have to look very carefully at the box and literature to take notice that the tuner is not HD. I went to two retail stores and both sales clerks told me it was an HD tuner (a natural assumption as it says 1080p right on the box).
The 1080P is a reference to the “upconverting” resolution of regular DVD’s. Yeah, that is a nice feature… but then why package it with a built in tuner that is NOT capable of generating true HD images?
The tuner will process all analog and some digital tv & cable signals (which are poorly processed and look dark and dingy), but will not generate or process true HD cable & tv.
The DVD/CD/MP3 player and recorder are fine. Images off the DVD’s look sharp and wonderful, but the tuner is relatively useless.

I bought this recorder and found it easy to use. But other than that it’s slow when you change the channels and it had problems recording after two or three times using a disc that was made to re-write 1000 times. The first call to tech support was very helpful. The second time I called and asked about the first of five issues I had with the recorder the guy said “it’s the way you have it hooked up” and didn’t offer any advice. I didn’t bother asking about any of it’s other problems and I took it back. Way more trouble than it’s worth. I wouldn’t use it if it was free.
