Bought this unit from Costco couple of days thanks for the $30.00 coupon. This is my very first Blue Ray DVD player. My first Blue Ray DVD disc was “Deliverance”. It went straight to the movie and did not even stop at the “Menu” set up. Our second movie was “Horton” the cartoon and this one worked fine. Then the 3rd movie “Friday the 13th” could not be played and I had tried several times on this movie. The 1590 seemed cannot syn with my SONY 46″. The 4th movie could not be played with this 1590 either. Tonight my family tried to play the 5th Blue Ray DVD movie and it did NOT work either!!!
My TV display showed 480 only instead of 1080. Seems the 1590 doesn’t communicate with my SONY.
Not sure if I got a bad unit or what but I will do an exchange. This is the very first time I bought a Samsung product and I’m disappointed. Probably I should buy a SONY, like the S350, S360, S550 or the S560.

I purchased a blu-ray player and the box says “wireless ready”, it isnt, unless you want to purchase another add on product for $80! I called customer service and their best option was for me to spend even more money. I asked for a manager and was hung up on two times!!! If you want to do business with a company that cares about more than just your money then this company isnt for you. Horrible service, horrible misleading advertising, horrible company! SAMSUNG, YOU HAVE LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE![[ASIN:B002HIZQ0W Samsung Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player

I purchased this blu-ray player one month ago, I downloaded the firmware upgrade which locked up the whole system and had to send it back to Samsung to get it fixed. The other thing that I hate about this player is the wireless adapter that is $80, my damm ipod has built in wi-fi and samsung couldent fit it into this blu-ray player. I will never buy anything Samsung ever again

I got the BD-P1590C but had to exchange it once before I was satisfied. I brought the first one home, set it up and started testing different media – regular DVD, Audio CD, etc. I immediately noticed that it was kind of noisy – like the laser mechanism was searching over the disc for a prolonged time. I noticed some pixelation of the standard DVD at first which stopped and then detected some skipping of the audio but this also passed. When I tried to play a retail Audio CD there was significant audio skipping and dead spaces. I tried updating the firmware (which was trickier than the instructions) but even after succeeding w/ this, the mechanical noise and audio skipping persisted. I exchanged the unit and noticed that the mechanical noise was absent and there were no audio gaps or pixelation w/ standard DVD playback.
I also have a Samsung LCD flat screen which had to be exchanged once due to faulty video connections but have not had any problems w/ it since.
I’m thinking Samsung needs to improve their quality control but when the products work, the features are superior.

After reading all the Pro & Con reveiews left by others, I wanted to add that I bought this unit the weekend before Thanksgiving, and just now had the time to hook it up.
My main concern when buying it was that it may not play PAL formatted DVD’s. Which, a large portion of my discs are.
It wont even consider playing it. It spits it back out. I find this rather odd since most players, even ones for $50, play PAL DVD’s. My older Samsung player even plays them.
I’ll be taking this one back and searchnig for one that does what I need. I’m kind of bummed. I was looking forward to using the Netflix feature. With my 10 mbps connection, I’m sure it would have been enjoyable.
I’m pretty particular with my electronics, and don’t normally buy low-end units. But I picked this one up on a whim when buying a new Samsung plasma TV. Oh well, live and learn.
